Looking back on our old art is a bit sad sometimes isn't it? Most of those ideas are long since expired and the influences, motivations and energy associated with them has either died or evolved into something else. I tried to look through and gather as much as I could to discover the fragments that this is born out of and came up with these.

https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/test-object/legless-girl-in-ms-paint - a seemingly innocuous old drawing of a figure you yourself probably havent thought of since forever
https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/test-object/henri-wilde - an old recurring character that hasn't seemed to have made it with us into the present until today
https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/test-object/fulp-jr-in-ms-paint - the base if im not mistaken

I could not find the source for the top figure or the one on the left, though there were a few figures in some pieces that resembled them superficially. I probably just cant interpret them the same.

I wonder what changed you in 2011 to push you towards that fine art style you prominently and proudly display today. I wonder what makes you resist the temptation to follow in the footsteps of the artists who draw easy to parse illustrations of popular characters and themes. Whatever the reasons, keep doing it.

Ever since you stepped away from the art forum to join the eternal battle in the politics forum (i dont blame you) I've lost track of you and your work. The art portal and the forum may as well be entirely different planets. No more, though. I'll follow you to continue seeing the journey progress.

You got those 3 correct! Other than that, it's;

Figure on the right:

front page material

(never doubt me again, fool)

FumpHole responds:

Awww thank you! Getting frontpaged would be a dream come true but I don't think I'm quite good enough to be considered just yet :^]

(seems I was wrong, oh wise one)

Strange crop, but interesting patterns and design to be sure. Colors are vibrant and interesting, the design is more than just "person with an animal head" despite just being a person with an animal head youve given it a unique character by deforming the shapes. Hand looks messed up instead of deformed or stylized though.

Illustrative vector art on newgrounds? pretty rare stuff these days.

i would recommend vastly sizing down your images, as looking at this full screen at 3413x1920 vastly outstrips normal monitors capacity to see the image. unless theres some extraordinary detail in the image theres probably no reason to render it beyond 1200 px eh?

the figure is well crafted, but the composition is uneven, and the same effort that went into the figure is not there in the background curves, as well as it being cropped out awkwardly on one side leading to one flat edge when all the rest are curved.

ArtResident responds:

Thank you for providing such a thorough critique! I usually use 3413 x 1920 dimensions because they allow me to turn my art into prints on teepublic while also preserving the same aspect ratio necessary to keep as a wallpaper. I really do appreciate the feedback!
