boo you stink! why are you so bad!

moawling responds:

i'm bad bc i'm smelly :(

i can see where you were going with this but the face isnt very appealing, and the exosuit/prosthetic could use some work at making it look more functional/practical, it looks like a bunch of squares stuck together and not like something that actually works as you are intending it to. i like the choice of colors and stylization though.

r0b0tb0y responds:

Thanks for the feedback. Looking back at it now theres plenty I'd like to change.

Nice textures there, but you've kinda stumbled into uncanny valley here, with the textures being so realistic, but the lineart nor the background quite being up to that level of realism, you've kind of got this awkward look going on. The comparatively super simple background greatly adds to this feeling of awkwardness.

Enzefik responds:

This is very helpful criticism. I think if I come back to this piece I'll just abandon the outlines and push it to a painterly style. I'll probably just scrap the background and start over, in addition to giving myself a bigger canvas so the monsters aren't so close and it doesn't feel so cluttered. I do need to seriously just work on backgrounds for a while and work on making realistic environments for my characters, regardless of their level of detail. Again, though, seriously, thank you for the feedback.

But I did reach the Nuclear Throne! Never as Fish or Eyes though.

HugoVRB responds:

What about Steroids 8)?
I'm a noob so I'll keep reaching for the nuclear throne.

Cute theme, but pallid grey skin and a bloody eye a zombie nor a necromancer make.

Could use more zombie attributes and more necromancer attributes respectively as right now this looks more like a scene from twilight than anything else..

deo101 responds:

Yeah, I was thinking of this as kind of a first summoning, so shes not totally far gone and hes only recently risen.. I had a whole backstory planned but never shared it. so I completely see everything youre saying and agree 100%!!

Somebody with your skill set waiting for the success bus? Please. You've basically put good aesthetic in a headlock, the rest is just keeping up on your studies for improvement and networking. I envy people like you.

Excellent composition and mood. I am impressed with your ability to set characters with outlines in a painted background and have it not look too strange. Rock on, stranger.

G3no responds:

super kind words. no worries, i'm not depressed. it was mostly focused on the character. an unexplained gag at their expense. i'll keep on rocking

Oh man, when i said you should draw one of my oc's i didnt mean actually go through and copy it bit for bit! you should rotate this so its on the right plane and crop and resize it so its full size viewable, kinda like this, 4000x4000 is WAY too big for anything other than giant backgrounds or desktop art. i appreciate the gesture though, hes still one of my favorite designs ive done. Gotta work on that presentation though, get rid of that glare and get a scanner! if you dont want to do that, go to a school or library and borrow their scanner.

artwithabraham responds:

I knew what you meant i just didnt feel like i didnt need to change anything as i was first drawing it so i started again and just followed the way the original looked, and yea i definitely could use a scanner theres no denying that, and yea as i was looking through all of you're oc's this one really caught my eye and really enjoyed drawing this

As for the DoctNiks review, well... http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/draw/a158c420717e353e7930fac45396fb6b at least he is honest indeed.

The only tiny error I can see that I would bother mentioning is the shading on his feet from his ankles doesn't reflect the fur that is there on them. Otherwise a superb piece without even being familiar with the subject matter, a great homage to the original.

Luckytime responds:

Aww thanks! Those shadows weren't my number 1 concern, I felt they could be simplified and still work.

You did design work on Crypt of the Necrodancer? Thats one of my favorite games! This design work is pretty good, he was a memorable boss for sure. Who did all the sweet binary art for the game though?

jouste responds:

that would be Mr. Ted Martens! be sure to check out his stuff!

thanks for the comment! and high score!

*highfives*

(pretty sure a nip slip aint e for everyone buddy) Looks nice, but lacks anatomy, her hips are lying man.

GamerTheory responds:

Rating has been corrected.

You're right about the anatomy as well. Thank you for pointing out both of those.
