your coloring style is so soft and precise, i cannot imagine pixel art this way, i struggle with anti alias as it is but this is _dithered_ AND shaped with expert color use PERFECTLY, every cluster and shade is considered. you are among the best pixel renderers i know. now animate them. >:)

BoJustBo responds:

Sorry, I'm a painter, not an animator ;P

5164 x 7087? seriously? please for the love of god render it smaller, there is no monitor that can display this resolution. I'm not surprised people are having trouble loading this image, it loaded for me like I was back in 1995 on dialup.

TrulySinFulSaint responds:

Yeah that was a whoopsy on my part, I often forget how large I'm working

RIP Willow.

amenduhh responds:

♥ She was very loved

Is it insulting if I say it reminds me of rick and morty? Because its actually a pretty solid execution of the idea in illustrative form. looking at this makes me wonder how you planned it all out. Did you first draw the city and then make a new layer for each subsequent portal on top or was it all done in one go? Huge ambition here. My biggest complaint would be that the arcing energy effects look a bit like those worms on a string and could do with more OOMPH, but i am pretty obsessed with Green Energy myself so take my perspective with a grain of salt.

Luwano responds:

It’s not insulting to me, thanks.

I planned it out from the vanishing point and drew a grid over the whole canvas that allowed me to draw each layer without messing up the perspective. I didn’t draw a full city, but the sketch was a good chunk more of the city than what remained visible in the finished drawing.

For the time warps, I tried to draw them similar to a "lightning magic" tutorial I once tried, but it clashed with the cartoon look so I didn’t follow through with it. You are right, it lacks some sort of "power".

I love egoraptor?!

It is a bit of a trickle instead of a flood isnt it, but thats to be expected after it being so long since the last one. Gotta build that forum rapport.

the composition and gesture are swell, though im docking you half a star for not noticing that the velociraptors scythe claw is like a thumb, always on the inside. how DARE you mess up dinosaur anatomy. The science note theme was a good choice and that "fig 3" script is like literally 1:1 perfect text for such a theme.

oh also his boot kind of loses legibility and looks like a weewee. mind your tangents. - 0.5 stars.

SourCherryJack responds:

Gotta trickle before you unleash a mighty stream. Anyway, oddly enough I tried really hard to remember where the big claw goes, but — you see— I am really dumb and fucked it up anyway. Either way thank you for the review and kind words (if anything I would have thought the Dino dick would get me bonus points on NG) also I’m a lil drunk and luv u very much gg peace out.

Looking back on our old art is a bit sad sometimes isn't it? Most of those ideas are long since expired and the influences, motivations and energy associated with them has either died or evolved into something else. I tried to look through and gather as much as I could to discover the fragments that this is born out of and came up with these.

https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/test-object/legless-girl-in-ms-paint - a seemingly innocuous old drawing of a figure you yourself probably havent thought of since forever
https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/test-object/henri-wilde - an old recurring character that hasn't seemed to have made it with us into the present until today
https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/test-object/fulp-jr-in-ms-paint - the base if im not mistaken

I could not find the source for the top figure or the one on the left, though there were a few figures in some pieces that resembled them superficially. I probably just cant interpret them the same.

I wonder what changed you in 2011 to push you towards that fine art style you prominently and proudly display today. I wonder what makes you resist the temptation to follow in the footsteps of the artists who draw easy to parse illustrations of popular characters and themes. Whatever the reasons, keep doing it.

Ever since you stepped away from the art forum to join the eternal battle in the politics forum (i dont blame you) I've lost track of you and your work. The art portal and the forum may as well be entirely different planets. No more, though. I'll follow you to continue seeing the journey progress.

DieterTheuns responds:

You got those 3 correct! Other than that, it's;
